Civil 3D Project Lead

McMillen, Inc. is currently seeking a Civil 3D Project Lead to join our team. The Project Lead will lead and manage complex civil 3D design projects, driving innovation, delivering high‑quality engineering solutions, and coordinating with design engineers to complete projects on time.

• Manage and direct Civil 3D drafting and modeling for large, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Develop and manage complex project models using Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, ReCap, and Navisworks.
• Oversee project files and data environment via Autodesk Construction Cloud and coordinate reviews through Bluebeam Revu.
• Translate verbal and conceptual instructions into advanced technical drawings, executing non‑routine assignments with minimal supervision.
• Conceptualize and plan visual presentation of intricate designs, solving challenges outside standard drafting.
• Lead QA/QC workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance with company and client standards.
• Contribute to development, implementation, and maintenance of company‑wide BIM and Civil 3D standards.
• Prepare accurate man‑hour estimates and drawing lists for drafting activities and overall support.
• Partner with Design Technology personnel across disciplines on large‑scale projects.
• Serve as primary technical resource and SME for problem resolution, guiding drafting team and engineering staff.
• Facilitate project meetings, lead design reviews, provide clear updates, and coordinate with clients on design standards.

• 10–15 years of progressive Civil CAD and 3D modeling experience in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Technical or vocational drafting program completion required; associate degree preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in plan, profile, grading, corridors, subassemblies, and section views.
• Strong GIS data integration and point‑cloud handling skills.
• Experience with channel design, complex grading, and yard piping.
• Water‑resources engineering experience highly preferred.
• Ability to independently produce comprehensive drawing packages from concept to completion.
• Successful collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams on concurrent fast‑paced projects.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds, travel with luggage, and transport materials. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to focus.

• Pay Range: $44.00 - $67.42 per hour (DOE)
