Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Business Class Lead (192261)
This role leads and manages HDR’s Idaho-based team associated with dams, levees, floodplain management, and civil design. Responsibilities include managing staff and workload, developing business class technical solutions, building and maintaining client relationships, identifying and winning project opportunities, and delivering high‑complexity projects in compliance with QA/QC requirements. The position supports regional and national technical leadership and may require travel across Idaho and the United States.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Idaho-based Dams, Levees, and Civil Works team, overseeing staffing, workloads, and performance.
- Provide technical direction on dams, levees, floodplain management, and civil design projects.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Identify and secure new project opportunities.
- Deliver successful projects with high technical complexity while ensuring QA/QC compliance.
- Mentor junior staff and build multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with regional and national technical and business leadership.
- Travel as needed to support projects and business development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Professional Engineering, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Maintenance of a professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
- Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
- Professional Engineer in Idaho State or ability to obtain Idaho PE license within 6 months.
- Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Independence and collaboration as part of a diverse project team; willingness to travel for projects or other business assignments.
- Ability to function as an active team player in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience with supervising staff and interest in client and business development.
