Senior Water Resources Engineer – Boise,
Lead technical teams and create planning, design, and construction documents for river and stream restoration, water supply, irrigation, dam breach analysis, and stormwater quality retrofit projects. Oversee the entire project lifecycle—from concept to detailed design and construction services—ensuring high technical quality and client satisfaction. Develop business strategies, propose and negotiate contracts to grow the business, maintain strong client relationships, and mentor staff throughout the Design and Water Group.
Key Responsibilities- Build technical teams and develop project planning, design, and construction documents.
- Lead all aspects of projects with high degrees of technical complexity, from concept through detailed design and construction services.
- Assist with business development: strategy, positioning, proposing, and negotiating contracts to grow the business.
- Establish and maintain client relationships, communicating on design topics, schedules, budgets, and scope.
- Lead project teams and coordinate among diverse design disciplines for delivery of designs and related studies.
- Provide guidance and leadership within the Water Group; mentor and coach Water Resources Group staff.
- Identify potential project pursuits, prepare qualifications and proposals, and support staff.
- Promote inclusion and ensure staff have meaningful career progression opportunities.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, Ecological, or Irrigation Engineering—or a related field such as Water Resources Science.
- 10+ years of experience in water resources, including hydrology and hydraulic analysis, conveyance, irrigation, restoration and drainage design, and/or watershed modeling.
- Ability to work independently, manage design tasks, and mentor early‑career engineers.
- Master of Science in Civil, Environmental, Ecological, or Irrigation Engineering—or a related field such as Water Resources Science.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC‑RAS 1D/2D, HEC‑Res Sim, SRH‑2D.
- Experience with CAD design software.
- PE license.
- Experience consulting for public agencies, utilities, or irrigation districts.
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with co‑workers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Experience with business development and proposal writing.
- Readiness and desire to mentor early‑career and mid‑level staff.
