Our established Community Development group is seeking a Civil Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to support Sr Civil Engineers working on a range of projects, from commercial pad site and data center developments to large master planned communities and municipal infrastructure improvements projects for various cities and public agency clients.
As the Civil EIT, you will help produce engineering drawing sets for preliminary designs through to final engineering construction drawings. In this role you will also support construction administration for public works roadway corridors and site development projects. The ideal candidate will bring a technical background and Civil engineering skills to support the Sr Civil Engineering Leaders and project managers from across the western US. As a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training, you will be responsible for preparing technical design solutions.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Support Civil Engineers preparing grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
- Prepare and revise documentation for projects from feasibility analysis to construction close out.
- Participate in constructability review.
- Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate with design teams, subconsultants and other project partners to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget.
- Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager as needed.
- Collect and analyse data and perform calculations that support civil system design decisions and development process.
- Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Utilize three‑dimensional technologies and modeling software in development, design and analysis of civil systems.
- Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong problem‑solving skills related to the delivery of infrastructure projects.
- Comprehensive technical understanding of various phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Experience with technical guidelines, codes and construction standards of key public authorities.
- Knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Excellent time‑management skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the functionality of relevant design software, including AutoCAD, Civil3D and Auto‑Turn, locally accepted hydrology and hydraulic programs, etc.
