Mechanical Process Engineer – High Purity Gas & Chemical Systems
On-site in Boise,
Target salary range: $90,000 - $
We are seeking a Mechanical Process Engineer – High Purity Gas & Chemical Systems to support the design and development of high‑purity gas and ultrapure chemical delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced industrial applications. This role focuses on process engineering, P&t, process simulation, equipment sizing, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Pipe Flo, and process safety methodologies including HAZOP, PSM, and FMEA while driving new product development and continuous product improvement.
Responsibilities- Design and develop high‑purity gas and ultrapure chemical delivery systems for new products and existing product enhancements.
- Develop engineering specifications, process calculations, and detailed designs to support manufacturing and product development.
- Create, maintain, and optimize Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for safe, reliable, and maintainable process systems.
- Perform process simulations, equipment sizing, pressure drop calculations, and flow analysis using Pipe Flo or comparable process engineering software.
- Research, evaluate, and specify valves, piping components, instrumentation, and process equipment for new system designs.
- Analyze process flow requirements and engineer practical solutions that meet performance, quality, and safety objectives.
- Lead or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) reviews.
- Evaluate system components for chemical compatibility and process reliability.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, QA/QC requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Support new product development initiatives targeting emerging semiconductor and advanced manufacturing markets.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to improve existing products and develop innovative process solutions.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, equipment, and manufacturing processes to improve product performance, quality, throughput, and workplace safety.
- Support proposal development and technical quotations by providing engineering input as required.
- Manage engineering design projects while coordinating activities with engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors.
- Review engineering deliverables and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and schedule objectives.
- Improve product manufacturability and support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing.
- Assist with manufacturing training related to new products, equipment, and production processes.
- Provide engineering support throughout product release, production, and manufacturing implementation.
- Support the design and construction of manufacturing equipment when required.
- Follow project budgets, schedules, and company engineering processes.
- Participate in all required safety initiatives, hazard reporting, PPE compliance, and workplace safety programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience designing process systems, high‑purity gas systems, chemical delivery systems, or similar industrial process equipment.
- Experience using Pipe Flo or comparable process simulation software for flow, pressure, and equipment sizing calculations.
- Proficiency with Solid Works and AutoCAD.
- Experience developing and maintaining P&IDs.
- Knowledge of process equipment sizing, fluid flow analysis, and mechanical system design.
- Experience performing or participating in HAZOP, PSM, and FMEA process safety reviews.
- Knowledge of chemical compatibility evaluation and process equipment selection.
- Understanding of applicable engineering codes, quality standards, and QA/QC practices.
- Experience supporting product development, engineering design, and manufacturing.
- Ability to support limited travel to customer locations as required.
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing or related high‑tech process industries.
- Experience developing high‑purity gas or ultrapure chemical delivery systems.
- Knowledge of new product development and manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
