Job Description

The Construction Manager - Chemical & Gas Systems will manage the PSSS Mechanical team and information from start to finish for large semiconductor projects. The PSSS Mechanical Construction Manager will collaborate with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople to address complex mechanical coordination issues. This position is on the front line to aid in avoiding and solving technical problems that arise and will lead onsite mechanical quality control efforts, including document review during preconstruction through commissioning and punch list.

Location: Boise,  (fully onsite)
Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 DOE + Incentives

Principle Responsibilities
  • Oversee PSSS mechanical subcontractors and vendor installation work daily to ensure installation schedule is maintained and support system start‑up and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret construction documents, control sequences, and technical manuals.
  • Run startup meetings involving area Construction Managers, design team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies, and owners to coordinate and drive MEP system start‑up activities.
  • Interface between area Construction Managers and subcontractors to assist in mechanical and electrical system start‑ups.
  • Verify all documentation is complete and equipment being prepared for start‑up is construction complete and safe.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements within the overall project design.
  • Organize and facilitate training of client personnel in operations and maintenance of MEP systems.
  • Review and process project submittal information and coordinate between multiple submittals to ensure accuracy and functionality of each component.
  • Receive and distribute RFIs and change‑in‑scope documents issued by other team members.
  • Organize and file record documents.
  • Field survey layout of control lines and benchmarks.
  • Maintain information storage and retrieval using computers and handheld electronic hardware.
  • Act as technical advisor at onsite field construction office.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off‑shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
  • Assist in estimating mechanical budgets.
  • Secure mechanical subcontractor and equipment buy‑out.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractor contracts and contract modifications.
  • Oversee billing and schedule of values for mechanical subcontractors and vendors.
  • Assist with managing mechanical project staffing.
  • Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
  • Provide clear communication verbally, written, and electronically.
Essential Functions

  • Vision: near, mid, and far range; color, peripheral, depth, and hand/eye coordination.

  • Lift/Carry: up to 20 lbs (computer/drawings minimal).

  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Work independently, make prompt decisions, and follow through to meet schedule.
  • Use creativity, independent judgment, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Plan and organize work efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills; proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking; interpret construction documentation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Background in materials and methods of construction.
  • Minimum 5 years mechanical construction experience.
  • Experience with industrial and/or hi‑tech semiconductor projects.
  • LEED Accredited Professional or ability to become accredited within 18 months (preferred).
  • Experience organizing technical data accurately; familiarity with CSI specification system.
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in field conditions; patience and professionalism.
  • Skills in multitasking amid frequent interruptions.
