Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Jacobs, water is at the heart of what we do. As communities across the West face increasing water supply challenges, understanding, developing, and managing groundwater resources has never been more important. We are seeking an experienced hydrogeologist to join our growing Water Team in Boise, Idaho, supporting a diverse portfolio of groundwater resource projects that help communities become more sustainable and resilient.

In this role, you will work on a variety of groundwater projects, including aquifer characterization, groundwater supply planning, water rights evaluations, municipal supply well permitting and design, aquifer recharge and recovery, and related water resource and environmental studies for public- and private-sector clients. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Jacobs while helping clients solve complex groundwater challenges throughout Idaho and the western United States.

This position offers a balance of field and office responsibilities. You will participate in field investigations, well drilling and testing programs, aquifer characterization studies, and groundwater data collection efforts. In the office, you will evaluate and interpret hydrogeologic data, develop conceptual site models, perform groundwater pumping analyses, prepare technical reports and permitting documents, and support project planning and delivery.

As a mid-career professional, you will have opportunities to mentor early-career staff, contribute to technical excellence across projects, and continue developing your own leadership skills. You will work closely with senior hydro geologists, engineers, and water resource professionals while building strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.

You will also play a role in business development activities by supporting proposals, identifying opportunities with existing clients, and helping maintain strong client relationships. Success in this role requires strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical issues, project scope, schedules, and budgets with clients and project teams.

At Jacobs, we are partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by leveraging the expertise, innovation, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams. You will work alongside talented professionals from across the company while contributing to a culture that values collaboration, inclusion, safety, and continuous learning.

Most importantly, you will help deliver projects that provide reliable water supplies, strengthen communities, and support long-term environmental stewardship.

* Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, Geoscience, or a related field.

* 6 to 10+ years of progressive hydrogeologic consulting or water resources experience.

* Experience conducting field investigations and implementing groundwater resource projects.

* Experience permitting, designing, and overseeing drilling, construction, and testing of municipal supply wells.

* Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory permitting documents.

* Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.

* 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to obtain certification with Jacobs support.

* Professional Geologist (PG) in Idaho or ability to obtain Idaho licensure within one year of hire.

 Ideally, you'll also have:

* Master's degree in hydrogeology or a related field.

* Experience working with state water resource and environmental regulatory agencies;
Idaho regulatory experience (IDWR, IDEQ) preferred.

* Demonstrated success working with local clients.

* PG/LHG and CHG licensure in CA or WA.
