Lead Professional, Civil Engineer
WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Lead Professional, Civil Engineer for our Boise, e. Be involved in projects with our Civil Engineering Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and addresses their challenges.
Your Impact
- Perform professional civil task lead work on transportation projects for clients in the Pacific Mountain West District (Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii and Guam).
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project teams in order to achieve overall project objectives.
- Work closely with clients to meet and exceed their expectations.
- Support project managers to prepare, negotiate, and/or oversee scope, schedule and budget, changes and risk, as well as plans, specifications, estimates and/or bid packages.
- Maintain quality assurance/quality control, ensuring that cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met for engineering activities and are commensurate with quality standards and client requirements.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers to help drive the project team to deliver technically sound engineering solutions in an efficient manner with a focus on quality.
- Coordinate with other design disciplines, and workshare with other offices across the Pacific Mountain West District.
- Remain current in the latest Civil Engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
People & Performance Leadership
- Responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Civil Engineering/Roadway design team.
- Mentor or supervise early career staff to support their growth and professional development.
Business Development
- Collaborate with other local offices and in-house national transportation delivery experts to provide clients with innovative and future-focused solutions.
- Support transportation business development efforts, strategy development, client engagement and pursuits in the Pacific Mountain West District.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field from an accredited program.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior civil design experience.
- Engineer license required.
- Experience working with local agencies, Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) and/or Ada County Highway District (ACHD) projects and their design standards.
- Proficient knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Proficiency with roadway/highway design, alignments, profiles, cross-sections/superelevations, and 3D modeling.
- Experience with construction administrative support, including responding to RFIs, submittals, design change orders in a timely manner.
- Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
- Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work; including developing projects scopes and budgets
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, Microsoft Office suite, Revu suite, document control software, discipline-specific design software (i.e., Micro Station, Open Roads, or Civil 3D). Primary software for this position is Open Roads.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Experience participating in business development strategy and implementation.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
