Senior Electrical Cost Estimator
We’re seeking a Senior Electrical Cost Estimator with estimating experience ranging from $5M to $10B to support projects across the country. The types of projects include utility, substation, distribution, transmission, highway, and other transportation projects. You will review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend design development meetings, assess risk and cost impacts, and develop estimates. You will collaborate with a supportive team to review scope documents, develop work breakdown structures, perform take‑offs, assist contract staff with statements of work, apply construction means and methods, calculate indirect field and owner’s costs, and meet mandatory deadlines.
Location& Work Arrangement
We’re considering candidates located in the Western region of the United States; you will be assigned to the nearest Jacobs office as a Hybrid employee.
Responsibilities- Develop capital cost estimates for utility, transmission, distribution, substation, and transportation projects.
- Review contractor proposals for various procurement types.
- Review and validate change orders.
- Interface with external clients in the presentation of capital costs.
- Maintain organized and detailed files, project records, and logs.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 10–15 years of electrical field experience in utility, substation, distribution, or transmission construction.
- Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in substation and high‑voltage projects.
- Understanding of substation configurations, SCADA, and protection equipment.
- Provide constructability and cost estimates for projects that lack detailed design but can leverage experience and industry standards.
- Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk, and schedule.
- Proficient use of MS Office products, HCSS (Heavy Bid), Sage, or InEight estimating software and Blue Beam.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Certifications such as a CEP, CCP, PMP, or CCM.
The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including skills, experience, and education.
