Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports large-scale, on-site construction projects at a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, with a focus on mechanical and plumbing scopes. This role partners closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery by coordinating scheduling, communication, document control, procurement, and cost tracking. The Project Engineer collaborates with superintendents, forepersons, engineers, detailers, and leadership to deliver high-quality, profitable projects while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and contract requirements.
Key responsibilities include tracking, forecasting, and reporting labor hours and material costs to support accurate budgeting and profitability analysis; assisting with buyout and procurement of major equipment and subcontracts; expediting and tracking deliveries to ensure timely project execution; maintaining working knowledge of contracts, including general conditions, scopes of work, and specifications; managing and controlling project documentation in compliance with internal and contractual standards;
coordinating with field leadership to plan, schedule, and organize project work; supporting development of integrated project schedules, including subcontractor coordination; reviewing drawings and specifications to ensure accurate interpretation of mechanical and plumbing systems; preparing fabrication shop work packages, including material takeoffs and man-hour budgeting; supporting management of RFIs, change orders, and related project documentation; promoting and enforcing adherence to all jobsite safety standards and programs;
utilizing project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam, ACC, Smartsheet); developing understanding of construction sequencing, particularly for mechanical and plumbing scopes; and communicating effectively with all stakeholders to support a collaborative team environment.
Required qualifications include experience in project engineering within construction (mechanical or industrial preferred), knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and process piping systems, ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, familiarity with RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and collaboration tools (Teams, One Drive), strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities, effective communication and teamwork skills, and commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Chemical Engineering (relevant field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree), experience with Bluebeam and Procore, familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Viewpoint Vista, Revit, Stratus, Smartsheet, and SharePoint, experience in mechanical or industrial construction environments, experience in estimating, cost control, or change order management, and interest in long-term career growth within a mechanical contracting organization.
This role is primarily based onsite at a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho. The position involves working closely with field teams in an active construction environment requiring strict adherence to safety protocols. This is a contract to hire position based out of Boise, , with a pay range of $70,000.00 - $85,000.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
