Position: Forensic Electrical Engineer, P.E.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer, P.E. licensed with a strong background in power system analysis, codes and standards, and forensic investigations. This remote role requires a home‑based office, local or regional travel, and is preferred for candidates residing near Columbia, SC, Clemson, SC, Rock Hill, SC, Spartanburg, SC, Greenville, SC, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide power system analysis and determine the origin and cause of fire and explosion losses, equipment failures, lightning strike damage, electric shock and power surge damage, and post‑storm damage.
  • Inspect loss scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and investigate damages and evidence due to failures.
  • Analyze and document failure analysis and causation of failures, examine and test evidence in a laboratory setting, and research failure modes, products, installations, and maintenance related findings.
  • Collaborate with other experts to produce detailed reports outlining the origin and cause of losses and damages.
  • Serve as expert witness in court and/or depositions.
  • Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to newer colleagues on complex engineering assignments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, minimum required for resident state; multi‑state licensing and/or active NCEES Record preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system analysis, fire investigations, and failure analysis.
  • Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
Working Conditions

Remote work from a home‑based office. Requires standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, working outdoors in hot or cold weather, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds, and driving up to 4 hours per day. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
