Overview
Micron Technology’s newest fabrication facility in Boise, Idaho is expanding and seeking a Metrology Applications Engineer to support wafer fabrication excellence. The role focuses on developing measurement techniques, data analysis, and process improvements in a collaborative environment with global teams.
Responsibilities- Develop recipes and applications to quantify semiconductor processing and build statistical process control methods.
- Work with new metrology tools and strategies to enable earlier or more efficient data collection.
- Identify, analyze, and raise awareness of process anomalies.
- Improve existing measurement techniques and develop new approaches using the available tools.
- Participate actively in technical meetings, synthesizing insights into new opportunities or novel approaches.
- Collaborate with the global network to develop best-known methods and maintain alignment between sites.
- Develop techniques across various metrology platforms, including electron beam, optical, and X‑ray inspection systems.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in semiconductor or programming field.
- Minimum 1 year experience in semiconductor physics and understanding of transistor operations, scaling limitations and reliability; basic knowledge of CMOS circuits and characterization methods.
- Minimum 2 years experience using at least one software tool (e.g., JMP, Spotfire, Tableau).
- Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in a RDA/Metrology, HVM, or TD team setting.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor inspection equipment, theories, and techniques.
- Experience with optical, electron beam, and X‑ray inspection equipment.
- Choice of medical, dental and vision plans across all locations.
