Job Opportunity
Join our Industrial Center of Excellence at WSP and contribute to designing innovative plumbing systems for complex building projects. We are seeking a Mechanical Designer who is passionate about delivering high‑quality, sustainable solutions that meet client objectives and industry standards.
LocationsThis role can be based in Boise, ;
Overland Park, KS;
Madison, WI;
Austin, TX; or Houston, TX.
- Assist in the design and layout of plumbing systems for facilities projects, including potable water, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems.
- Prepare detailed drawings and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Review and apply client‑specific and internal drafting standards to ensure full compliance and consistently high quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
- Follow established quality control protocols—ensuring all drafting work complies with documented QA/QC procedures and corrective action requirements.
- Support project development from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Incorporate future‑ready solutions and sustainable practices into plumbing designs.
- Participate in site surveys and inspections to verify existing conditions and support design accuracy.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in plumbing design.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
- 9+ years of experience in plumbing design for building systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with plumbing codes and standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with industrial, pharma, tech, or large‑scale commercial facilities.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and LEED certification requirements.

CompensationExpected hourly (all locations): $35.15 – $51.25. The company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
