Field Engineer – Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV)

Up to $110/hour
- Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
- Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
- Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
- Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switch gear, cables, and circuit breakers
- Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
- Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
- Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
- Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
- Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
Required:
- NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (current and in good standing)
- 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
- Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
- Proficiency with test equipment:
Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalent - Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)
Preferred:
- NETA Level IV Certification
- NICET Certification
- Experience with SF6 breaker maintenance
- Power systems engineering or related degree
- Prior leadership/supervisory experience on testing projects
- Experience in data center, utility, or industrial critical power environments
