Mechanical Engineer (Professional Engineer
- Healthcare HVAC)

Our client in the Boise,  is currently hiring for a Mechanical Engineer (Professional Engineer
- Healthcare HVAC). This position will be a hybrid opportunity in Boise, , working in a collaborative office environment with flexibility to work remotely as project needs permit. This position requires a minimum of 10+ years of HVAC and/or plumbing design experience and a strong experience supporting healthcare or laboratory projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about technical excellence, client service, and helping grow a mechanical engineering team.

Pay - $95,000 - $110,000/year (Depending on years of experience, tenure, software proficiency, healthcare project experience, licensure, and relevant job titles)

Location
- Boise,  (Hybrid)

Schedule
- Standard Monday-Friday (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing systems for hospitals, clinical laboratories, and outpatient healthcare facilities.

• Design and coordinate HVAC systems including VAV systems, VRF systems, heat pumps, and packaged rooftop units.

• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and support equipment sizing and system selection.

• Design hydronic piping systems, including pump selection, pipe sizing, and distribution strategies.

• Select and size ductwork, fans, air handling units, and related mechanical equipment.

• Develop plumbing system designs and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.

• Prepare mechanical specifications and technical documentation for complex projects.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, healthcare requirements, and industry standards.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and drafters to produce coordinated construction documents.

• Interface directly with clients and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.

• Support quality reviews and maintain a high standard of engineering excellence.

• Assist in growing and mentoring the mechanical engineering team.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.

• 10+ years of HVAC and/or plumbing design experience.

• 3-5+ years of experience supporting large-scale healthcare or laboratory projects.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure by comity in the state of employment.

• Strong HVAC design experience including VAV systems, VRF systems, heat pumps, and packaged rooftop systems.

• Experience with hydronic piping design, pump selection, duct sizing, and fan selection.

• Experience using heating and cooling load calculation software.

• Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing building codes.

• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk MEP, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.

• Ability to independently design HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction documentation.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills.

Disqualifiers

• Less than 10 years of HVAC or plumbing design experience.

• No healthcare or laboratory project experience.

• No experience designing HVAC systems utilizing VAV systems, VRF systems, heat pumps, or packaged rooftop units.

• No experience utilizing Revit or AutoCAD in a design environment.

• No PE license and unable to obtain licensure by comity.

• No experience with HVAC load calculations, hydronic piping design, duct sizing, or fan selection.
