G3 Water Engineers is seeking an entry-level Control Panel CAD Designer/Drafter to join our collaborative team of engineers and designers specializing in water and wastewater conveyance and treatment projects. This individual will support the development of electrical control-panel drawings and documentation for industrial water and wastewater projects. The successful candidate will assist engineers with converting design concepts into accurate, build-ready drawing packages.
This position is ideal for someone with CAD coursework, electrical technology training, or hands-on industrial experience who is eager to learn control-panel design practices. The drafter will work closely with engineers and project managers to produce clear, organized, and manufacturable documentation. Role is full time, onsite in G3's Boise, Idaho office.
The Electrical CAD Designer/Drafter will assist with the creation and maintenance of electrical drawings for control panels, motor control equipment, instrumentation, and related systems. Work will include preparing panel layouts, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, terminal drawings, cable schedules, I/O documentation, equipment details, and bills of materials under the supervision of project engineers.
Required Skills/Abilities:- 0-6 years of CAD, electrical drafting, or related technical experience.
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or coursework in CAD, drafting, electrical technology, engineering technology, or industrial automation preferred.
- Basic ability to read electrical schematics and understand electrical symbols, wiring, terminals, and components.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or comparable drafting software preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Bluebeam
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
- Strong attention to detail and organized file-management habits.
- Ability to incorporate redlines, follow drafting standards, and maintain revision control.
- Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet project objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and general computing tools.
- Ability to manage multiple project tasks while staying organized.
