The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring an Air Quality Dispersion Modeling Analyst, Analyst 3 for the Boise State Office. Join our team and make a difference!

This position is established at the Analyst 3 level and may be underfilled at the Analyst 2 level. After successfully completing a training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications for the Analyst 2, the employee will be reclassified and compensated as an Analyst 3.

This position may be eligible for a moving/relocation reimbursement. Moving bonus criteria must be met in accordance with the State of Idaho Moving Policy.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telecommuting in accordance with the Statewide Telecommuting Policy . Telecommuting may be subject to successful completion of probation.

Responsibilities Technical Permit Review and Integration
  • Provide technical support to stationary source modeling supervisor and permitting engineering manager to ensure timely integration of dispersion modeling analyses into permit development.
  • Provide expert technical review of dispersion modeling analyses for permits to construct (PTCs) and Tier II operating permits. Work with the technical staff in the Air Division and the regional offices to solve problems and resolve issues associated with performing air dispersion modeling. Interact with facilities and facilitate meetings on stationary source modeling issues. Provide technical content for public comment and quality assurance for permits as it relates to review of dispersion modeling analyses.
  • Provide technical and policy review of modeling protocols submitted to the Department in support of permits to construct (PTCs) and Tier II operating permits; interact with facilities to provide guidance on the performance of atmospheric dispersion modeling.
  • Provide technical, policy, and planning support for the air quality modeling, permitting, compliance, and enforcement programs.
  • Remain current on new developments in atmospheric dispersion modeling, including a comprehensive understanding of specific algorithms within applicable models.
  • May be tasked to lead special projects.
  • May be tasked to provide technical support and guidance to junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications Analyst 3: ($35.03)

Possession of a bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences, political science, business or public administration, engineering, or related natural resources management field OR any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year bachelor's degree. For example:
Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty four (24) semester hours in a subject required for the specific discipline, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or experience performing routine…
