Position SummaryClient is seeking a hands‑on Field Service Engineer to support advanced semiconductor metrology systems at a customer site in Boise. This role is the technical face of Client in the field: maintaining system performance, resolving complex equipment issues, supporting installations and upgrades, and building trusted relationships with customer engineering and operations teams.
The right person is a self‑starter who combines strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills with disciplined service documentation, clear communication, and the judgment to own issues through resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Support Client systems and end users in accordance with warranty and service support agreements.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, high‑vacuum, software, and system‑integration issues using structured troubleshooting methods.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and support new equipment installations, add‑ons, upgrades, and system qualification activities.
- Serve as the on‑site liaison among the customer, Client Technical Support, Applications, Sales, and R&D teams; communicate status, risk, and next actions clearly.
- Maintain accurate service records and provide regular activity, performance, and issue reports to customer stakeholders and Client management.
- Train and retrain customer users to promote safe operation, proper equipment use, and a strong working level of system knowledge.
- Manage assigned spare‑parts inventory, recommend appropriate stock levels, repair components when applicable, and ensure backup systems are stored and available when needed.
- Support customer evaluations and provide technically grounded information that helps Client s commercial and applications teams.
- Follow all customer‑site requirements for safety, cleanroom conduct, security, confidentiality, ergonomics, and professional behavior.
- Provide support during the schedule defined by the service agreement and respond outside normal business hours, including weekends, when customer needs require it.
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting complex electromechanical equipment, preferably within semiconductor manufacturing, capital equipment, or precision metrology.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with demonstrated independent troubleshooting ability; high‑vacuum experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to provide first‑level software troubleshooting and technical support.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor equipment integration and communication protocols such as SECS/GEM and HSMS.
- Understanding of semiconductor‑fab practices, safety standards, ergonomics, and yield requirements.
- Ability to perform hands‑on work in a cleanroom, including bending, crawling, and working in and around semiconductor equipment systems.
- Ability to meet customer‑site access, training, and safety requirements.
- Field service experience with multi‑disciplinary semiconductor metrology, inspection, or process‑control equipment.
- Experience with optical systems, motion control, pneumatics, vacuum subsystems, robotics, or equipment automation.
- Experience supporting equipment in a high‑volume manufacturing environment and partnering directly with fab engineering teams.
