Job DescriptionUnder the general direction of upper management, the Mortgage Loan Originator Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day‑to‑day activities of a small team of Mortgage Loan Originators. The role includes ensuring all documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured in a timely manner, meeting annual loan volume goals, establishing referral source relationships with real estate brokers, builders, and other external partners, and actively participating in local and state mortgage banking and realtor trade associations.
The supervisor collaborates across U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other banking lines to promote customer relationships and additional product sales, and participates in interviewing, recruiting, and retaining talent through employee development and engagement initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of mortgage sales experience
- Proven new‑business development and relationship‑management skills
- Strong sales strategy knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of mortgage products, operations, and current market trends
- Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements for mortgage insurance companies
- Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
- Familiarity with local, state, and national laws such as Truth‑in‑Lending, RESPA, and relevant zoning ordinances
- Excellent customer‑service and relational skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability with financial information
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to perform duties outside the regular place of business when required
