Idaho Department of Lands

The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is seeking a full-time Financial Technician, Senior. This position will be located at our Coeur d’Alene Staff Office in Coeur d’Alene,  our Boise Staff Office in Boise, .

Description

To perform a variety of para-professional financial duties including developing and maintaining records, documents, reports and financial data; review financial documents and records; perform some entry level accounting, bookkeeping or audit functions; and perform related work.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks, codes and input vendor invoices and updates purchasing contract logs
  • Process Account Payables in Luma and communicates with Purchasing on PO and service contract payment issues
  • Liaison with vendors on payment status or invoice discrepancies
  • Works with internal and external customers regarding fiscal and purchasing operations and hazard management policies
  • Assist in updating policies and handbooks sections relevant to Hazard Management and FPA, as directed
  • Attend internal and external meetings with cooperators as needed.
  • Performs public information requests for hazard management which convey pay histories including current balances, adjustments made, and dates and mills reporting on compliance numbers and explain policy and procedures to the public on harvesting of wood products.
  • Process clearances and cash bond releases and forfeitures
  • Process monthly county report listing volume for harvesting in each county
  • Reconciles ledger balances for each district to verify accuracy and research and correct errors
  • Produces annual harvest report detailing volumes hauled by county, and industrial vs non-industrial
  • Prepares letters to purchasers explaining errors, over payments, incorrect volumes or updated/missing compliance numbers
  • Processes hazard management deposits and sweep removal
  • Attend SCO and Luma training when offered

Minimum Qualifications

Some knowledge of:

  • Accounting principles and practices

Good knowledge of:

  • Financial record keeping methods

Experience:

  • Using advanced Microsoft Excel functions
  • Researching and compiling financial info and preparing summaries and reports
  • Using personal computers to retrieve, edit, and analyze financial data

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with LUMA accounting software and/or State of Idaho accounting software
  • Proficient in 10-key
  • Experience with Hazard Management Forms
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
