Position: Associate Fire Chief (Tribal Operations)

Associate Fire Chief (Tribal Operations)

As an Associate Fire Chief (Tribal Operations) your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide guidance to Geographic Area leadership and support to Tribes regarding wildland fire policy, readiness, and operational integration, ensuring Tribal priorities are embedded within planning and execution.
  • Review and interpret USWFS and Department of the Interior policies, Secretarial Orders, and program authorities, and create guidance that supports Tribal Program inclusion within the Geographic Area.
  • Actively support Tribal-led fuels treatments and prescribed fire initiatives, including cultural burning, while also coordinating post-fire participation in activities such as BAER and long-term restoration efforts.
  • Provides mitigation education, community assistance, and fire prevention across various lands, ensuring that all outreach employs culturally respectful messaging.
