Play a key leadership role in the City Clerk’s Office, overseeing the City’s licensing and policy functions and helping ensure programs and services are administered consistently, effectively, and in accordance with federal, state, and city requirements.
Working closely with the Director of the City Clerk, this position provides leadership and oversight for important statutory responsibilities of the City Clerk’s Office. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate across departments, guide policy and process improvements, navigate complex regulatory requirements, and support work that directly impacts the organization and the community.
This position operates with a high degree of independence under general direction and is well suited for someone who brings sound judgment, strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to effective public service.
Required Knowledge, Experience, And/or Training- Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, political science, public policy, law, organizational leadership, or a related field and
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, government, regulatory administration, organizational governance, code and policy administration, or a related field, including at least 2 years of management experience;
- or an equivalent combination of education and experience..
- 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or other government, public administration, regulatory administration, organizational governance, or a comparable complex organization, including 3 years of management or organizational leadership experience and responsibility of people, programs, or significant organizational functions.
- Experience leading complex programs involving Code and policy administration, regulatory functions, licensing, organizational operations, or enterprise-wide governance.
- Experience advising executive leadership, elected or appointed officials, or other senior decision-makers on complex regulatory, Code and policy, operational, or organizational matters.
- Experience leading stakeholder or public engagement involving businesses, community groups, governmental partners, or other affected parties on complex or sensitive matters.
- Municipal government or City Clerk's Office experience, including familiarity with elections, legislative administration, public records, records management, or other statutory clerk responsibilities.
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC), Master Municipal Clerk (MMC), or other relevant professional certification.
- City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
- Criminal Justice Information System background check (CJIS)
- Driving Record Check
