Description
PHARMACY TECH II
THE CANCER CENTER Boise, Nampa and Caldwell. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying the medication packaging process and outcomes. Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations. This Pharmacy Tech will perform hazardous compounding for the Cancer Institute.

Hours The Pharmacy Tech will work 4x10hr shifts and will rotate between Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell with more emphasis on Nampa and Boise. No nights, weekends or holidays.

Ideal candidates may have hazardous compounding experience, but candidates can be trained if they have sterile compounding experience. Training references note the value of the technician apprenticeship program at Luke’s for foundational skills and potential retention considerations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician required.
  • Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy based on state worked.
  • National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) required.

What You Will Do

  • Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions, including material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
  • Revenue management: ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Understand limitations to performing certain responsibilities of a registered technician in dispensing medications and remain within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain competency to work in the IV room, including performing hazardous compounding.
  • Provide some functional supervision of technicians.
  • Ensure required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing medications, including material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
  • Precepting duties, as required for new hires and technician students.
