The Programs team is dedicated to providing a structured, respectful, and professional environment that supports individuals in custody in developing the self-awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary for successful reentry into the community. Reentry Programs Facilitators are responsible for delivering educational programming through the facilitation of evidence-based cognitive-behavioral interventions, substance abuse programs, positive parenting, and workforce readiness instruction. In addition, facilitators provide case management services, including individualized support, resource coordination, and referrals to internal and community-based services.
These evidence-based programs and supportive services are designed to address criminogenic risk factors, promote pro-social behavior, and support successful community reintegration while reducing recidivism. The position is located in the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), Court Services Bureau in Boise, Idaho.
The incumbent performs complex, sensitive and varied work under general direction. The position will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgement to accomplish work.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides group education to individuals in a correctional setting to include Cognitive Behavioral interventions, substance abuse programming, parenting, workforce readiness, General Education Diploma (GED) and overall life skills;
- Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of classes and programs;
- Maintains documentation with regard to an individual’s progress in classes;
- Coordinates education-based classes;
- Reports compliance or noncompliance of individuals to referring judges, probation officers, and/or other appropriate external partners;
- Monitors individual's behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of fellow participants, self, staff, equipment, and materials;
- Maintains knowledge of trauma informed and evidence-based approaches to facilitation;
- Consults with other teams regarding participation progress and/or recommendations;
- Oversees and coordinates all religious services provided to individuals in custody, including supervision of jail clergy and religious volunteers;
- Reviews background checks, coordination with volunteers and community organizations, and management of religious resources and donated materials;
- Works on developing individual release plans that support successful reintegration into the community upon their release;
- Networks with community providers, courts, and external agencies to establish vital contacts for case planning;
- Works with outside partners to develop new classes and to bring in resources for individuals to establish prior to release; and
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required, in any field;
- Knowledge of best practice treatment of chemical dependency, treatment services, and cognitive-behavioral programs preferred;
- Knowledge of interactive journaling preferred;
- Skill in effective group facilitation;
- Skill in working with individuals in the criminal justice system;
- Ability to collaborate with leadership;
- Ability to communicate about additional resources for facilitating and learning within the classroom;
- Ability to balance consistent program delivery while maintaining jail security and appropriate ethical boundaries;
