- Position is based in an acute care hospital on the 3rd and 7th floor Telemetry units
- The 3rd floor has 20 beds focused on cardiac and post-op patients, while the 7th floor has 35 beds with general telemetry and overflow
- Patient population includes cardiac cases, post-op open heart, TAVRs, ablations, post-caths, pacemakers, CHF, sepsis, post-strokes, and electrolyte imbalances
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4
- Night shifts are 12 hours from 7p-7a, with weekend shifts required (5-6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks)
- Travelers will float between the 3rd and 7th floor Telemetry units and may also float to any MS, MS‑Tele, or Tele unit within the hospital and sister locations
- Charting is completed using EPIC EMR
- Two shifts of unit‑specific orientation are provided (one on each floor)
- First to float policy for travelers
- Responsibilities include caring for high‑acuity cardiac and general telemetry patients, including post‑op and post‑procedural cases
- Set rate cardiac drips used include amiodarone, cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine
- Charge nurse available on each unit, with resource nurses also on site as support
- Travelers are considered first for floating assignments across units and may cover at sister facilities
- Travelers are expected to maintain schedule flexibility to meet unit needs; block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Any color scrubs are permitted
- Holiday coverage may be required, though not all holidays will be assigned
- Respiratory therapy manages all RT equipment; RNs may assist as needed
- Permanent employees must have a one‑year separation from the facility before applying for a travel assignment
- Facility is considered traveler friendly and supportive of contract extensions
- Active compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or relevant cardiac unit experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must have post‑procedural cardiac experience including cath lab, ablations, and open heart
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and document as required
- Experience with titration of heparin and insulin drips (insulin experience can be trained on site)
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Driver’s license required
- Two professional references required, one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- No local candidates within a 50‑mile radius
