Information Technology Services (ITS) is a team of dedicated professionals providing core technology and cybersecurity services to agencies statewide, enabling state employees to better serve Idaho's citizens.

The selected individual will be part of a team that tests, implements, deploys, maintains, reviews, and administers infrastructure hardware and software to effectively manage the computer network defenses and resources, and will actively remediate known risks, misconfigurations, and audit findings to enhance Idaho's cybersecurity.

Description

Information Technology Services (ITS) currently has one opening for an Information Security Engineer Level II position in our Chinden office in Boise. This position provides critical, frontline, hands-on support in vulnerability management, cyber risk analysis, and security assessments. It is part of a team that delivers 24/7/365 cybersecurity services, including protection, detection, and response to cybersecurity threats both offensively and defensively.

The successful candidate MUST pass a national level, fingerprint-based background check, including agency-specific checks related to CJIS, HIPAA, FTI, PCI and other high-confidentiality information.

Example Of Duties
  • Manages, implements, operates, and maintains advanced cybersecurity systems
  • Participates in cybersecurity risk finding remediation efforts
  • Evaluates and recommends solutions and mitigation strategies related to cybersecurity operations
  • Undertakes security-related scans, daily monitoring alerts, and reporting on cyber threats and attacks
  • Assists in the management of system and network access control
  • Assists in cybersecurity configuration auditing for policy and compliance adherence
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of cybersecurity incident response and handling methodologies (typically gained by at least two years of related work experience OR one year plus two related college/vocational courses; experience should be within the last five years).
  • Authentication, authorization, and access control methods (typically gained by at least two years of work experience in network security OR one year plus two related courses; experience within last five years).
  • Vulnerability information dissemination sources (alerts, errata, bulletins) (typically two years of professional work experience in network security OR one year plus two related courses; experience within last five years).
  • Common threats, vulnerabilities, and related mitigation strategies (typically two years of work experience within the last five years in network security).
Experience
  • Administering cryptography and cryptographic key management concepts (typically at least two years of experience managing cryptographic keys within the last five years).
