What will the work look like for me?

The Information Technology (IT) department plays a pivotal role in accelerating the company’s success by leading the company on a digital transformation journey. In this transformation, IT collaboratively partners with stakeholders to gain insights into their work, challenges, and needs to deliver digital solutions and keep solutions performing well. These solutions enable automation, delight users, and equip users to perform more value‑added activities.

We are excited to be adding a new member to our team! The IT Software Development Supervisor is a leadership role primarily dedicated to mentoring, coaching, and nurturing the personal and professional growth of team members, fostering their development and potential within the organization. These IT team members are comprised of software developers, quality assurance testers, and software students. The individual in this role will help ensure that the IT Development teams are adequately staffed and upskilled on the latest technologies in alignment with IT’s technical roadmap, and they will work with IT Leadership to plan team capacity and facilitate team member reallocations on an as‑needed basis while maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the development function.

What would I do?

As the IT Software Development Supervisor, your work will focus on the following areas:

Supervision

• Supervise the development team professionals, students, and interns by providing guidance, support and coaching as needed.
• Support other development teams with their development needs and eliminate roadblocks for the team.
• Onboard new employees, including students, into the development teams.
• Build relationships with development team contractors and associated contractor account representatives.

Team Growth

• Identify individual and team strengths and opportunities for growth.
• Build and maintain trust and team morale throughout the development team.
• Develop successful mentoring plans and experiences for individuals to learn and grow in areas of discipline new to them.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring software development interns and students to ensure an adequately staffed student pipeline.
• Promote individual and team training and upskill individuals in alignment with IT technology roadmap and project requirements.
• Develop and maintain development skills matrix of development team members.

Development Practices

• Manage development team escalation schedule, rotation, process, and ensure incoming escalations are assigned and addressed.
• Promote tools, development practice, and process consistency across IT Dev teams (escalations, standards, etc).
• Assist IT Leadership in development team member allocation and capacity planning activities.
• Proactively communicate to impacted personnel of changes in team members’ schedules or team member reallocations.
• Attend and represent development team interests in team tier meetings and PI Planning events.
• Promote ongoing team understanding of IT Digital Transformation Funnel development process.
