Position: Boise State University – – Instructional Technologist 1

Job Summary

The Instructional Technologist 1 provides technical support and operational management for learning technology systems. This role focuses on maintaining and managing IT infrastructure, resolving technical issues, and analyzing technology trends to support institutional goals. Working under close supervision, the incumbent develops professional competencies while contributing to department operations and user support.

Essential Functions (60% of the time)
  • Instruct students and instructors in problem solving related to department subject matter.
  • Create and maintain user groups and permissions for all departmental IT assets.
  • Manage, test and deploy features and services.
  • Resolve escalated issues and coordinate with Tier 1 (Helpdesk), application administrators and vendors to ensure timely resolution.
  • Document internal processes, policies and procedures; create custom documentation for internal audiences.
  • Assist department subject‑matter researchers with related needs.
Essential Functions (35% of the time)
  • Interpret learning technology trends in data visualization and dashboard utilization to identify opportunities for enhanced tool functionality, improved user adoption, and alignment with institutional effectiveness goals.
Essential Functions (5% of the time)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational and time‑management skills, with ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks.
  • Analytical and detail‑oriented, with excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to multitask.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Salary & Benefits

Starting salary is $50,065.60 annually and is commensurate with experience.

  • 12 paid holidays (the University is closed between Christmas and New Year’s; requires use of 3 vacation days)

Working Location & Visa

This position requires the candidate to live in Idaho or be willing to relocate if hired.
