Overview
Supports, analyzes, and documents an Enterprise WAN/LAN/WLAN focused on corporate offices, stores, and distribution centers. Installs, configures, and maintains all network hardware and software to meet network performance requirements of the company. Diagnoses, resolves and documents hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring minimal downtime. Provides end‑user training, consulting, and assistance as required. Consistently delivers friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
Performs other related work.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer. Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by telephone, email, and in person.
- Collaborate with IT Staff to create optimal network performance and configurations.
- Work with end users and department heads to identify, maintain and document network service levels.
- Provide system support for all aspects of cabling and networking hardware and software products.
- Maintain security solutions, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Maintain all network hardware and software including routers, switches, WLAN controllers, VPNs, and PBXs.
- Participate in incident response for network or security‑related incidents.
- Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for hardware and software solutions.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery plan executables.
- Respond to emergency network outages.
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedure manuals, and help guides for network installations.
- Conduct automated routine updates to network infrastructure configurations.
- Provide guidance and training to IT Staff as required.
- Manage assigned projects to deliver services that meet established objectives on time and within budget.
- Maintain keen attention to detail in documentation and configuration of network systems.
- Consistently meet goals, expectations, and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in addition to the experience listed below.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years networking experience gained in the last seven (7) years OR equivalent education, training and/or experience demonstrating considerable knowledge of network administration.
- Applying technical knowledge of network operating systems Cisco IOS.
- Demonstrating knowledge of wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Administration of SNMP MIB–based network monitoring system.
- Effectively utilizing Netflow to diagnose high‑level network issues.
- Applying technical knowledge in at least three of the following five areas: network routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP); switching protocols (LACP, PAgP, Ether Channel); security protocols (IPSec, GRE, 802.1x); wireless (802.11a/b/g/n); WAN protocols (DMVPN, MPLS).
- Conducting research into networking issues and products.

- Prioritizing and executing tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
- Effectively managing time and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Implementing secure network segmentation through VLAN technologies.
- Operating network component analyzers, scanners, and testers.
- Exhibiting strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Utilizing verbal, written and inter‑personal communication skills to present ideas in user‑friendly language.
Ability to:
- Terminate UTP cabling.
- Work in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment with a strong customer service orientation.
- Inspect and install cables in floors and ceilings.
- Be on call to trouble‑shoot emergencies, including after business hours, weekends and holidays.
- Travel occasionally.
- Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on need.
