Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day work, follow up on deadlines for the assigned team; review work; ensure effective collaboration with other teams; listen to team members’ input, provide feedback and help resolve issues or conflicts. Manage tracking logs and status for project tasks, issues, and document submissions.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and facilitating full-cycle project management. Develop a management strategy for planning, resource allocation, purchasing, scheduling, budget management and closeout of projects. Create and deliver professional presentations to both department and citywide staff. Monitor and report on all aspects of project management.
  • Assist in preparing requests for proposals and qualifications for engineering, architectural and construction services. Review proposals and specifications for feasibility, construction timelines, cost effectiveness and operational and maintenance effectiveness. Perform on-site visits to review projects to ensure EPA Construction General Permit compliance.
  • Develop plans, schedules, estimates and record-keeping systems for projects. Manage contracts, budgets, logistics and timelines. Perform inspections to monitor quality and assist in ensuring compliance with project scope.
  • Process monthly invoices from contractors, validate that work is within scope and budget, and process final payments including retainage release.
  • Coordinate work between city departments and outside agencies, contractors, and the public. Serve as a liaison between departments including Public Works, Planning and Development Services, Finance, Ada County Highway District and utility companies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; management reserves the right to reassign duties at any time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related field
  • 4 years of experience in construction and project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Ability to pass City of Boise background checks, driving record check, and Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)
Additional Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Knowledge of administration, planning, budgeting and organization; rules and regulations related to public infrastructure contract preparation/administration; federal and state regulations pertaining to municipal government and construction; construction site safety and hazard identification; and computer usage including related software.
  • Ability to plan, design and organize construction projects and studies; lead and supervise project teams; review and direct work of outside consultants; write clear materials, proposals, reports, financial analyses; work independently or in a team; communicate effectively in English.
  • Capability to operate vehicles safely and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • 5 years of experience in a related field.

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand and walk. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Employees work in/loyees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.
