Event Security Program Director

To provide strategic and administrative leadership for Boise State University's event security program across all major venues and campus events. This position oversees Associate Directors, ensures consistent planning standards, sustainable staffing models, and sound fiscal management, and maintains operational readiness for a growing and increasingly complex event portfolio. This position recommends event security policy, approves procedures, and provides executive oversight for high-risk and large-scale events, including direct leadership of the university's largest stadium events.

In coordination with campus partners, Athletics stakeholders, and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, this role ensures integrated planning, regulatory compliance, and effective incident management practices that protect the safety, reputation, and mission of the university.

Campus Security Authority:
This position is identified as a "Campus Security Authority (CSA)" per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law, the employee is required to report any crimes that they become aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally, CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by the university's event schedule.

Manages a large team typically consisting of both experienced professionals and subordinate Managers. Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short to mid-term focus; significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate Managers. Determines objectives, directs programs, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project or program teams in one department/job family.

Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines campus strategies for a program with campus wide impact. May report to an Associate/Assistant Vice President or Dean.

Provide strategic and administrative leadership for the university's enterprise event security program, ensuring consistent standards, sustainable staffing models, and long-term operational readiness across all campus venues and event types. Directly supervises Associate Directors and maintains oversight of the full event security chain of command, including hiring recommendations, performance management, professional development, succession planning, and organizational structure design.

Recommend event security policies and approve operational procedures to ensure compliance with university requirements, federal and state law, and nationally recognized incident management practices. Establishes standardized planning frameworks, documentation requirements, and quality control processes to ensure consistent application of event security protocols across venues.
