Position Overview

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Program Director is responsible for providing leadership in developing, planning, organizing, supervising staff, and directing the activities associated with housing and support services in programs as assigned. Building collaborative partnerships, establishing multi-agency agreements, supervising staff across programs, working with diverse stakeholders (advisory groups, nonprofit organizations, legislators, low-income communities), and providing financial oversight, including developing, coordination, and managing budgets. The Program Director must demonstrate a basic understanding of accounting principles and sound fiscal judgement to support the organization’s contract compliance.

The Program Director must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks concurrently, work collaboratively, and meet tight deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position entails the following responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned:

  • Managing and analyzing financial information for multiple programs, including revenues and expenditures, to ensure all operations are within budget.
  • Communicating (verbally and written) financial and policy program information.
  • Demonstrating cultural humility and offering professional support to staff members.
  • Collaboratively work in diverse settings across multiple programs.
  • Collecting required information and maintaining detailed records for program(s).
  • Analyze and summarize data to prepare and deliver reports.
  • Supervision of staff and management of program(s) to ensure quality support and services are provided.
  • Support program staff in ensuring maintenance of apartment standards as outlined by SUS. Including funding sources i.e.; OMH, DOHMH, OASAS, HPD, HRA.

  • The Program Director should have strong leadership and systems organization skills. The Director must be able to multitask, be fiscally skilled, excel at attention to detail, be adaptable and culturally competent, be able to handle high-pressure situations, and have strong communication skills. It is also essential that the Program Director understand the challenges connected to people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use and criminal justice involvement.

    Demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting low-income individuals and families, specifically those currently experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Competence in working with diverse stakeholders is essential.
