Job Summary /Basic Function

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating library-wide projects. The Library Project Manager I drives project success by coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, establishing timelines, and tracking milestones to ensure all project objectives are met successfully. Additionally, the Library Project Manager I provides vital resources and administrative support by serving as a collaborative liaison, ensuring clear communication and seamless coordination among research teams, faculty, and administration.

Albertsons Library is an essential partner in Boise State University’s teaching, research, and student-success missions. Centrally located on campus, the Library brings together people, expertise, information, technology, and spaces to support discovery, creativity, and connection.

The Library provides extensive electronic and physical collections; innovative technology and creative making spaces; archival and university history materials; and collaborative and quiet study environments. Library faculty and staff support students and researchers at every stage of their work through instruction, research consultations, information access,emerging technologies, scholarly communication and research-impact services, open educational resources, and stewardship of the university’s scholarly and historical record.

As Boise State expands graduate education and advances its research ambitions, the Library plays an increasingly important role in supporting faculty scholarship, externally funded research, and student success while connecting the university community with the resources and expertise that make academic work possible.

Level Scope

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions

75% of the time, the Library Project Manager must:

  • Lead library projects through project management phases, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor comprehensive project plans, timelines, schedules and documentation.
  • Manage and coordinate library teams to ensure clear communication and alignment on project deliverables.
  • Work with resource managers to effectively align resources across projects.
  • Prioritize project backlog and ensure continual flow of requirements for developers.
  • Provide institutional technical support, assistance, and maintenance for library project management systems and activities.
  • Develop and implement internal and external communication plans that effectively convey priorities, progress updates, and strategic direction.
  • Synthesize data to evaluate program effectiveness, explore alternatives, and guide program development.

20% of the time, the Library Project Manager will:

  • Support the Library's project portfolio through project intake, prioritization, resource planning, and executive reporting.
  • Develop project management standards, templates, and performance metrics that strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Conduct project assessments and prepare analyses, dashboards, and recommendations that support strategic planning and leadership decision making.
