Agri Beef’s feedyards employ some of the most dedicated people in the business. To ensure our cattle are cared for properly and given a healthy, comfortable environment, our people manufacture and deliver feed, provide care for our animals, maintain our facilities and equipment, and provide administrative support to our teams and customers. Our Boise Valley feedyard is in Parma, Idaho and the primary goal of our feedyard is to maintain optimal health and well‑being of our animals.

POSITION

SUMMARY

This is a hybrid position that has 2 evening shifts and 3 day time shifts. Schedule is as follows:

The Night Watchman is a key partner on the feedyard team. This individual monitors cattle feeding, receives new cattle and ensures the security of the feed yard premises. This position is a weekend night shift. This schedule is Sat/Sun from 9pm until 2am.

In addition to the weekend night shift, this position also includes being a Yard Crew team member during the weekdays. The schedule for this position can be flexible with which days of the week, but will be 3 days a week from 7am-5pm.

The Night Watchman is a key partner on the feedyard team. This individual monitors cattle feeding, receives new cattle and ensures the security of the feed yard premises.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor cleanup time on feed bunks
  • Unload cattle trucks, check headcounts and condition, weigh, and complete required paperwork to ensure correctness and report to Cattle Manager
  • Provide security to the feedlot at night and assist in loading and/or unloading cattle shipments
  • Prepare fat cattle loads for trucks, oversee loading of fat cattle and verify headcounts
  • Communicate with Cattle Manager on all arrivals
  • Document everyone entering the feedyard
  • Periodically drive the feedyard to ensure yard is secure
  • Read and record cleanup of feed bunks
  • Comply with all procedures, policies, rules, and regulations of the company, operation and Integrated Management System
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

As a Yard Maintenance Crew team member, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and care of the feedyard premises. This may include building fences, repairing and maintaining feed bunks, repairing water lines and water tanks, and conducting general repair work. The ideal candidate will have extensive welding and heavy equipment experience as this role will primarily consist of working outside on the feedyard premises and equipment operation.

  • Clean and repair feed bunks and pens
  • Operate and maintain equipment
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Candidate should contribute to positive teamwork, follow policies and procedures, adapt to changes in the work environment, have consistent and punctual attendance, be dependable, use time efficiently and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful candidates must be able to perform a wide variety of tasks with limited supervision
  • Possess a basic understanding of equipment and vehicle maintenance. The ability to operate equipment is required
  • Candidates must also demonstrate a basic knowledge of proper cattle handling.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Previous cattle experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
