The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all Gas & Chemical (G&C) operational activities within a semiconductor facility, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution aligned with Exentec and customer standards, procedures, and expectations. This position plays a key leadership role in supporting facility operations, safety, and reliability across all G&C systems.

  • Coordinate and distribute all operational activities for the assigned shift team (Gas & Chemical systems).
  • Oversee daily operations of bulk and specialty gas systems, chemical distribution, valve manifold boxes (VMBs), gas cabinets, and related infrastructure supporting semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Ensure safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of toxic, flammable, and specialty gas and chemical systems in accordance with SEMI, NFPA, OSHA, and customer safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with Shift Leaders, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations Management to ensure clear information flow and alignment.
  • Collaborate with customer engineering, EHS, and facility operations teams to maintain system uptime, reliability, and process stability.
  • Coordinate daily operational tasks and shift schedules, ensuring proper staffing and coverage.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments related to all G&C activities.
  • Oversee compliance with SOPs and ensure operational tasks are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping and contamination control practices in all operational areas.
  • Drive a culture of Safety, Quality, and Operational Excellence across the team.
  • Train, mentor, and release technicians to perform operational duties safely and effectively.
  • Respond to system alarms, outages, or emergency incidents, serving as incident coordinator and communicator when required.
  • Ensure operational data and maintenance activities are accurately logged in the ERP / FMS systems.
  • Ensure proper use and upkeep of tools, instruments, and safety equipment, including calibration and readiness.
  • Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and media consumption trends; escalate anomalies per customer expectations.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with customer Emergency Response (ER) teams to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Attend and represent operations at weekly and monthly customer meetings.
  • Assist with operational duties as needed during peak periods or emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Show your expertise
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certificate, associate’s degree, or higher education in a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in semiconductor, high‑purity gas, or chemical plant operations, preferably within a fab or high‑tech manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of bulk and specialty Gas & Chemical (G&C) systems, including toxic gas handling, chemical delivery, and abatement systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety systems, process controls, and instrumentation associated with gas and chemical distribution.
  • Experience applying SEMI, NFPA, and OSHA PSM standards in a controlled manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven leadership, multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, lead, and support a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to meet and maintain site‑specific customer acceptance criteria.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator or SCBA mask.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations or working directly with fab facilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP or facility management system experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in on‑call rotations as needed.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
