This role exists to strengthen programming, process optimization, fixturing, and machining operations while helping develop the next generation of machinists and programmers within the organization.
As a Senior CNC Programmer, you’ll play a critical role in producing precision firearm components while improving efficiency, reducing cycle times, supporting new product development, and helping scale production through advanced machining and automation initiatives.
The Work You’ll Be DoingIn this role, you will:
- Program and optimize horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers using Mastercam
- Perform machine setups, first articles, and process validation
- Support machinists and setup personnel with troubleshooting and process improvements
- Design and develop work holding and fixturing solutions
- Improve existing programs to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times
- Support lights‑out machining and automation initiatives
- Manufacture R&D and prototype components while providing feedback to engineering
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixture, and process issues
- Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams
- Help establish inspection processes and quality standards
- Mentor team members and contribute to professional development across the shop
You’ll work with equipment and technology including:
- Horizontal CNC Machining Centers
- Vertical CNC Machining Centers
- Mastercam Programming Software
- Advanced Workholding & Fixture Design
- First Article Inspection Processes
- Automation and Robotic Manufacturing Systems (preferred experience)
Depending on product requirements, machinists may work with:
- Aluminum
- Alloy Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Firearm‑grade specialty materials
- Senior‑level CNC programming experience
- Strong Mastercam programming background
- Extensive experience with horizontal machining centers
- Experience performing setups and first articles
- Advanced fixture and work holding design knowledge
- Ability to optimize programs for quality, efficiency, and cycle time reduction
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Continuous improvement mindset
- 5+ years of horizontal CNC programming experience
- Automation and robotics experience
- Experience supporting R&D and prototype manufacturing
- Leadership or mentoring experience
- Quality systems and inspection process development experience
