Job Overview
The Packer is responsible for maintaining the production lines running efficiently and ensuring all product is packaged by specifications and guidelines. They will rotate within their shift, performing manual packaging, sealing product, organizing product into boxes, and stacking on pallets. They will operate pallet jacks to move or transport finished product or raw materials to other locations, perform visual product inspections, and report any issues.
They must be knowledgeable of all product specifications, familiar with production reports, prioritize safety, and enter data into the company's ERP system.

- Follow safety and food safety standards; participate in training and promote safety culture; ensure compliance with SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and related policies.
- Understand product specifications and weight of each tortilla.
- Retrieve product specifications from the ERP system.
- Identify the characteristics of the boxes and bags used for packaging.
- Program the bagging/boxing machines for each product rotation.
- Prepare the workstation at shift start with necessary bags and boxes; maintain clean, organized work area per housekeeping policy.
- Meet productivity goals by following the production schedule.
- Participate in line rotation, assist co‑workers, or cover downtime or lunch periods as needed.
- Communicate proactively with leaders and machine operators about product deficiencies.
- Operate Auto Baggers, Ilapak, and other auto baggers.
- Complete changeovers on the packaging area (vision system, counter stacker, auto bagger, bag printer, weight equipment).
- Enter production information into TGI (Machine Log) and product pathways.
- Record downtime in the Machine Log.
- Retrieve and return packaging materials to the warehouse.
- Use computer and RF gun proficiently.
- Perform continuous rotation within assigned workstations; package tortillas, box them, and lift boxes up to 50 lb.
- Assist in QA program: pH verification, metal detection, recording pH levels, identify errors due to pH, and line quality checks.
- Comply with all SQF requirements and maintain workstations per SQF guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Grade school level; high school diploma or GED is a plus.
- 1–2 years experience operating or working with food manufacturing machinery.
- 1–2 years experience following work task specifications, SOPs, recipes, etc.
- Same as minimum requirements.
- Proficient verbal and written communication.
- Basic math skills and proper use of a calculator.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Team player.
- Self‑motivated; able to identify errors in product and packaging.
- Work at required speed while meeting safety requirements.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lb.
- Operate while standing for prolonged periods.
- Bend, stoop, crawl, reach, grasp, and work in awkward positions.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible schedule; willing to work weekends, holidays, and off‑shifts.
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy.
- Maintain alertness and work safely.
- Follow drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
- Comply with all food safety and third‑party certification policies (SQF, Gluten‑Free, Organic, etc.).

Working Conditions and Physical Effort- Continual walking, standing, biking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs.
