Position: Dry End Manager (Moyie Springs)

Idaho Forest Group – Moyie Springs is looking for a dynamic, team‑oriented Dry End Manager to join our leadership team. Salary – $116,000/year DOE.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dry End Manager oversees all operations related to the Planner, Shipping, and Boiler‑Kiln departments ensuring the efficient processing of raw materials while maintaining safety, quality, production standards and financial goals. He/she leads a team of operators and technicians while implementing best practices to optimize workflow. This role involves collaborating with other departments to meet production targets and improve overall operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage daily activities of the dry end operations, providing leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure targets are met while maintaining IFG quality and safety standards.
  • Proactive leadership that fosters teamwork and enhances IFG culture and standards.
  • Train, mentor, evaluate performance and counsel team members promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Green End, Maintenance, and Sales to coordinate efforts and streamline operations.
  • Evaluate and calculate ROI opportunities for departmental improvement.
  • Identify repair, improvement opportunities, and solutions in partnership with other managers and supervisors.
  • Track production tallies and sales needs.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager to build and manage the department budget.
  • Implement and uphold quality assurance processes to ensure product standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct uptime analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean department and plant site.
  • Duties may vary by location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and safety protocols.
  • Strong managerial skills to motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address operational challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines (e.g., time management, multitasking, project management).
  • Willingness to work nights or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post‑offer pre‑employment physical, and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle history for business travel in company vehicles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience with, or certified through, a lumber grading agency.
  • General understanding of OSHA requirements, LOTO procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with QC/QA programs and tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit and/or stand for a shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.

  • Bend at waist – occasional.
  • Lift above waist height – occasional.
  • Repetitive use of hands – constant for clerical duties.
  • Sit – frequent.
  • Vision – near and far correctable; good depth perception.
  • Hearing – preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
