A Brief Summary of This Position
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual contributor for the Dispatcher position in the Global NA Operations Division. This position is accountable for the organizing and coordination of all activities related to the execution of a department master production schedule to maintain the shop schedule and keep it accurate.
Essential Functions- Work in a cross‑functional reporting structure that assists Scheduling, Manufacturing, Storerooms, Shipping, Maintenance and Finishing Departments.
- Interface with administration departments, other sites, vendors, Marketing, Engineering, and Purchasing.
- Coordinate completion of machine load report with the support and cooperation of manufacturing and the Schedulers.
- Monitor status and expedite shortages to assure minimum manufacturing past‑due hours as defined by departmental goals.
- Maintain close communications with departmental supervisors and/or leads and Production Control.
- Be responsible for coordination of feedback to Inventory Control regarding potential reschedules, overloads, and other potential logistics problems.
- Cross‑train within Production Control for coverage as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Understand Production Control techniques and procedures to perform those functions over which you exercise authority.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and have the capability of reading standard blueprints generated by Engineering.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, along with good planning, organization, and follow‑up skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Understand and be able to use related data processing files, both hard copy documents and systems through the computer network, while performing daily departmental duties.
- One (1) year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- One (1) year of previous experience with MRP systems such as IFS and Oracle Discoverer.
- Basic understanding of Production Control techniques and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
- The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
- Read, write and speak English effectively.
- Must always have a high awareness for safety.
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
- One (1) year production scheduling experience.
- Three (3) years of previous experience working in a manufacturing environment or fabrication environment.
- Associate’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings, and frequently visit the shop floor. The environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.
The employee is occasionally required to move about the office and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
