DescriptionDarigold is seeking a self‑motivated, trained Second Shift Vat Room Operator to be a part of Boise Darigold’s Culture Products Team. The Vat Room Operator must possess an interest and desire to produce quality cultured product, and the ability to perform their work in an efficient and safe manner. The ideal candidate for this role excels in working in a fast paced, rigorous environment and is a team player.
ScheduleThursday – Saturday: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am;
Wednesday: 6:00 pm – 12:00 am
- Safe, efficient Vat Room responsibilities
- Efficient and productive ingredient utilization
- Receiving pasteurized materials for the process
- Pulling samples and delivering them to the lab
- Monitoring and fulfilling the batch process for sour cream and cottage cheese products
- Coordinating optimum product delivery per production schedule
- Monitoring Curd Drainer operation
- Monitoring final product for varying factors including moisture, solids and dressing content, and temperature
- Cleaning and sanitizing all tanks, lines, and equipment; complete all master sanitation tasks at 100%; ensure valve rebuilds are timely and proper
- Perform inspections on all integrated components; ensure required rotations and replacements
- Assisting Maintenance in routine tasks and repairs on the equipment
- Maintaining record on charts and vat room log records according to standard
- Professionally interacting and communicating with other departments
- Maintaining efficiency standards set for the operating area; contribute improvement ideas and initiatives; work with a Waste Reduction mentality
- Responding and completing any other duties as assigned by supervisors
- Previous culture processing experience
- Ability to monitor several concurrent processes simultaneously
- Attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and quality
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision in a fast‑paced environment
- Work with others to achieve team goals
- Maintain high attendance standards and be trusted with a high level of responsibility
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, mechanical skills desirable
- Ability to lift 50 pounds above shoulder height; engage a team lift for certain disassembly inspections and rebuilds
- Strong computer experience for reporting and HMI screen management
- Ability to stand/walk for ten to twelve hours based on production finish
- Ability to respond to variances in the process
- Ability to organize and analyze process problems
- Math skills to calculate percentages of components: ingredients, solids, water, curd, dressing, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication and computer skills
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes
- Previous dairy experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1 year production experience preferred
