Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in a high-volume surgical services setting with comprehensive call responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Work in a large hospital Operating Room setting with 17 surgical suites
- Patient population includes pediatric (all specialties and trauma) and adults
- Wide range of cases including neuro, general, da Vinci robotics, ortho, urology, oncology, ENT, GYN, and bariatrics
- Average of 65 surgical cases per day
- 12-hour shifts typically from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with variable days off
- Minimum of four hours of call per week is required; call response time is 30 minutes
- Weekend and holiday call requirements include 12-hour in-house shifts, typically once per month
- Floating may occur to nearby surgery centers or other ORs within the health system, including CVOR if experienced
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- RNs are not required to scrub in procedures
- Grey hospital-provided scrubs must be worn
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 along with OR tech support
- Initial orientation includes approximately one week of general and department-specific training
- Permanent employees must have a one-year break before being eligible for travel assignments at the facility
- No block scheduling or special schedule requests permitted
- First-time travelers with broad OR experience will be considered
- Active compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years OR nursing experience required
- Broad experience in a variety of surgical specialties preferred
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license and active nursing license required
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
