American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring an active compact RN license and at least two years of operating room experience.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Operating Room (OR) within an acute care hospital setting
- Unit features 17 surgical suites handling an average of 65 cases per day
- Cases include both pediatric and adult specialties such as general, neuro-spine, craniotomies, ortho trauma, sports medicine, urology, oncology, ENT, gynecology, and bariatrics
- RNs do not scrub; circulating role only
- Utilizes the Epic EMR system
- Schedule consists of 4x10 hour day shifts, with call expectations after shifts and during weekends and holidays
- Call response time is 30 minutes
- Floating is rare and only to nearby surgery centers or other local ORs if needed
- Grey scrubs are provided by the hospital
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and OR techs are available on the unit
- Team handles a wide range of surgical cases including complex and trauma procedures
- May be asked to work overnight if the night call team is unavailable, though this is rare
- One week of orientation includes both general and unit-specific training
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
- Holiday call coverage is expected on a rotating basis
- Volunteers are considered first for call shifts, then assigned as needed
- Active compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent operating room RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- Experience with a broad range of OR cases strongly preferred; candidates should highlight their top two clinical strengths
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license required
- Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
