Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

- Four 9‑hour shifts per week
- Rotating Monday–Friday schedule
- One weekday off
- Weekends off (except when on call)
- Shift hours vary based on procedure schedule. Typical hours are 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- On‑call requirements: 7–8 overnight call shifts per eight‑week scheduling period, including one weekend of call per cycle and a holiday call for at least one holiday per year
- Response time: 30‑minute response time required when called in for emergent cases during nights and weekends
- Assessment: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, seeks and evaluates information from interdisciplinary team.
- Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care, involving patient, family, team, and physician, including education and referrals.
- Implement: Directs interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration; provides or delegates care consistent with plan, sets priorities, manages time, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions, reviews achievement of goals and clinical outcomes, revises plan of care as indicated.
- Professionalism: Promotes nursing profession, participates in development of others, integrates legal and ethical standards, complies with regulations, documents accurately and timely, understands legal implications.

- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of start of employment.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description’s last update on 4/27/2025.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent verbal communication, hearing and understanding spoken information quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision; frequent computer use and typing for documentation.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies, includes items of varying weights, including heavy items.
