American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of Med/Surg or Tele experience and a compact or license.
Details- 34-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Patient population includes stroke, spine/back and cranial surgery, neuro medical disorders, Guillain Barre, Myasthenia Gravis, seizures, and EEG monitoring
- Average patient length of stay is 2-5 days
- Neuroscience NPs provide 24/7 support for neuro surgical and neuro intervention patients
- Uses EPIC EMR
- RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and Trachs with RT available as a resource
- CNAs staff at a 1:8 ratio
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a
- Weekend and holiday coverage required if there is a need
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating required to support all Treasure Valley Med-Surg areas, with travelers first to float
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Active RN license (Compact or ) required at time of consideration
- BSN required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Tele nursing experience required
- Stroke experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide direct nursing care to neuro medical and surgical patients including stroke, spine, and cranial cases
- Unit is the only site in the region providing neuro surgery services
- Charge RN available each shift without a patient assignment, with House Supervisor and Assistant Managers providing additional support
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2 days plus a didactic day with a unit-based educator
- No specific scrub color required as long as attire is clean and professional
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Permanent employees must be separated from employment for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
