Summary:

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system founded on the belief that people can change. IDOC is currently recruiting for a Management Services Division, Health Services Registered Nurse Manager and will report to the Director of Health Services.

The Registered Nurse Manager oversees a comprehensive, multi‑site health care contract delivering medical services to residents in county jails and out‑of‑state correctional facilities. This role ensures high‑quality clinical operations, compliance, and effective coordination across providers and partner agencies. Some travel is required. Correctional health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Perform medical audits and monitor health care operations, including case management and utilization review.
• Serve as a subject‑matter resource on clinical policies and procedures.
• Collaborate and consult with internal departments, external agencies, and provider groups to support program activities and effectiveness.
• Participate in quality management initiatives.
• Support staff with program compliance requirements.
• Maintain strong communication with contracted health care providers.
• Shape and support long-range planning and policy development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states:
  Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.
• Good knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained from one year of supervisory experience that required providing work assignment, and direction and monitoring of staff with responsibility (or significant input) into the hiring of employees, preparing performance evaluations, and handling problem-solving procedures OR have completed courses or seminars (20 hours) that included all the essential elements of management.
• Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions. Typically gained by approximately six months' experience in a supervisory role ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, licensure regulations, or care standards. This may include chart audits, data collection, policy and procedure review, committee participation, and/or infection control activities.
