Coffman Excavation is a growing leader in the earthwork industry. We are looking for a QA/QC Inspector to join our team. We take great pride in our work, employees and our community.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented QA/QC Inspector to support the Quality Control Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring underground utility construction activities meet project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This position serves as the primary field quality representative on projects involving water, sewer, storm drainage, force mains, and related civil infrastructure.
Schedule:Monday through Friday:
Some overtime is expected during the busy season.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of underground utility construction, including water, sewer, storm drain, and related civil work.
- Verify excavation, trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfill, grading, and surface restoration are completed according to project plans and specifications.
- Confirm utility locations, elevations, grades, and alignments are installed correctly.
- Inspect utility structures such as manholes, vaults, catch basins, cleanouts, valves, and related components.
- Inspect incoming materials and verify compliance with approved specifications and submittals.
- Coordinate and witness required testing, including compaction, pressure, leakage, deflection, and concrete testing.
- Identify and document quality issues, work with field teams to resolve deficiencies, and verify corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, testing records, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, survey crews, testing agencies, municipal inspectors, and owner representatives.
- Assist with punch list items, final inspections, and project closeout documentation.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction, civil inspection, or QA/QC.
- Experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, utility profiles, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of utility installation practices, excavation, trenching, bedding, backfill, and compaction requirements.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Salary range $65,000 - $100,000 depending on experience.
