At Far West Garden Center, our buyers play a vital role in the success of the business. As the Annuals & Seasonal Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing, merchandising, inventory management, and seasonal planning for the Annuals department, along with overseeing our bulbs, seeds, and houseplant categories.

Success in this role comes from strong planning, sound decision-making, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Annuals & Seasonal Buyer works closely with our leadership team to execute company goals while taking responsibility for the day-to-day success of the department.

This is a role for someone who enjoys planning ahead, staying organized, solving problems, and seeing the results of their work reflected in a department that is healthy, well-stocked, and ready for customers every day.

• Purchase and manage inventory for the Annuals department, bulbs, seeds, and houseplants.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with growers and vendors.
• Develop seasonal buying plans based on sales trends, inventory levels, and customer demand.
• Monitor inventory, turns, margins, and shrink to maximize department performance.
• Ensure products are received, priced, and entered accurately.
• Create attractive merchandising displays that inspire customers and drive sales.
• Partner with leadership and other departments to execute seasonal promotions and company initiatives.
• Analyze sales reports and inventory data to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Help maintain healthy, high-quality plant material through proper care, rotation, and merchandising.
• Provide excellent customer service and support the sales floor as needed.

• Experience in buying, merchandising, retail management, or inventory management preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) and the ability to learn inventory management and purchasing software.
• Knowledge of annuals and seasonal plants preferred.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Ability to analyze sales and inventory data to make sound business decisions.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects, adapt to changing seasonal demands, and consistently follow through on commitments.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal retail environment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
