Job Summary
Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) seeks a motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Biologist/Project Manager to join our Natural Resources Team. Responsibilities include developing and leading natural resources projects nationwide, leading field surveys for habitats, species, wetlands, invasive species, and compliance monitoring, and managing projects, proposals, and deliverables primarily through computer-based work.
Fieldwork TasksPhysical exertion such as walking or climbing over wet, rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, or reaching to observe, collect, and record field data. Some surveys require hiking several miles in a day, working in and around water, and accessing caves or other challenging topography.
Essential Functions- Manage Natural Resources scopes of work for small to large projects
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate field biologists
- Coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets and compliance monitoring programs, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders to align on project goals and compliance requirements
- Provide guidance and technical direction to clients and team members throughout project execution
- Direct and review QA/QC processes, ensuring accuracy of daily logs, weekly, monthly, and annual compliance reports
- Maintain accountability for project deliverables, timelines, and quality standards
- Act with professionalism, respect, and responsibility in all interactions
- Display original thinking and creativity when appropriate; meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate innovative ideas
- Adhere to ERG's safety protocols and ethical standards in all activities
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
- BA/BS in environmental science, biology, or a related discipline (required)
- Master's degree or higher (preferred)
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a Natural Resources Project Manager (required)
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience as a Natural Resources Project Manager (preferred)
- Strong technical writing and QA/QC skills for deliverable and proposal review and/or development (required)
- Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate with agencies, and maintain client relationships (required)
- Familiarity with biological resources, special‑status species, and permitting processes across multiple states (required)
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork up to 40% of the time, involving travel across the nation and overnight stays – travel expenses included (required)
- Active first aid/CPR training (preferred)
The pay range is $85,000 to $90,000 per year and includes ERG's full benefits package: health insurance with a generous employer subsidy, eleven paid holidays, paid time off, a fitness stipend, a 401(k) plan with employer contribution regardless of employee contribution, and more.
