- Facility Oversight:
Proactively monitor and manage the movement of staff, inmates, and visitors throughout the facility, always ensuring a secure environment. - Security Console Mastery:
Operate advanced audio‑visual security systems, including door controls, lights, alarms, and fire systems, and take charge of the closed‑circuit TV system. - Communication Expertise:
Use telephone and radio equipment to efficiently manage incoming and outgoing calls. - Emergency Incident Command:
Lead during emergencies by acting as the Incident Command Center, coordinating with jail staff and emergency responders. - Data Management:
Keep accurate logs of radio assignments, key activities, maintenance requests, and other essential data. - Technical Troubleshooting:
Identify and report technical issues with radios, alarms, or other security equipment. - Tech‑Savvy Operator:
Operate and maintain computers, office equipment, and various devices; perform basic preventive or minor maintenance. - Flexible Team Player:
Be ready to take on additional duties as needed. - Schedule Flexibility:
Work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, whether assigned or on an on‑call basis.
- The computer‑based exam consists of multiple sections that must all be passed. Skills tested include cross‑referencing, prioritization, call summarization, and data entry.
- Accredited high school diploma or state‑recognized equivalency certificate (such as a GED) required.
- Before the performance of assigned duties, Security Control Specialists must be deputized by the Ada County Sheriff.
