Security Control Specialist at Ada County Jail is a key role in ensuring the safety and security of the facility. The position requires a sharp eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment.
Essential Functions- Facility Oversight:
Proactively monitor and manage the movement of staff, inmates, and visitors throughout the facility, ensuring a secure environment and reporting safety hazards or security threats. - Security Console Mastery:
Operate advanced audio‑visual security systems, including door controls, lights, alarms, fire systems, and closed‑circuit TV, to enhance surveillance and improve security measures. - Communication Expertise:
Use telephone and radio equipment to manage incoming and outgoing calls, ensuring clear and seamless communication within the facility. - Emergency Incident Command:
Lead during emergencies by acting as the Incident Command Center, maintaining constant communication with jail staff and coordinating with emergency responders to ensure swift action. - Data Management:
Keep accurate logs of radio assignments, key activities, maintenance requests, and other essential data to ensure smooth and organized operations. - Technical Troubleshooting:
Identify and report technical issues with radios, alarms, or other security equipment, resolving problems to maintain operational integrity. - Tech‑Savvy Operator:
Operate and maintain computers, office equipment, and various devices, performing basic preventive or minor maintenance to keep equipment functioning properly. - Flexible Team Player:
Be ready to take on additional duties as needed, contributing to the overall success and smooth operation of the security team. - Schedule Flexibility:
Work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with eligibility to work on an on‑call basis.

Must pass all sections evaluating cross‑referencing, prioritization, call summarization, and data entry. Details available at Call-. - Accredited high school diploma or state‑recognized equivalency certificate (e.g., GED) is required.
- Prior to performing duties, Security Control Specialists must be deputized by the Ada County Sheriff.
Responsibilities are performed in a secure facility environment that may involve overnight and weekend shifts. Physical requirements include the ability to operate security equipment and maintain situational awareness.
