Security Control Specialist at Ada County Jail is a key role in ensuring the safety and security of the facility. The position requires a sharp eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment.

• Facility Oversight:
  Proactively monitor and manage the movement of staff, inmates, and visitors throughout the facility, ensuring a secure environment and reporting safety hazards or security threats.
• Security Console Mastery:
  Operate advanced audio‑visual security systems, including door controls, lights, alarms, fire systems, and closed‑circuit TV, to enhance surveillance and improve security measures.
• Communication Expertise:
  Use telephone and radio equipment to manage incoming and outgoing calls, ensuring clear and seamless communication within the facility.
• Emergency Incident Command:
  Lead during emergencies by acting as the Incident Command Center, maintaining constant communication with jail staff and coordinating with emergency responders to ensure swift action.
• Data Management:
  Keep accurate logs of radio assignments, key activities, maintenance requests, and other essential data to ensure smooth and organized operations.
• Technical Troubleshooting:
  Identify and report technical issues with radios, alarms, or other security equipment, resolving problems to maintain operational integrity.
• Tech‑Savvy Operator:
  Operate and maintain computers, office equipment, and various devices, performing basic preventive or minor maintenance to keep equipment functioning properly.
• Flexible Team Player:
  Be ready to take on additional duties as needed, contributing to the overall success and smooth operation of the security team.
• Schedule Flexibility:
  Work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with eligibility to work on an on‑call basis.

• Computer‑based exam:
  Must pass all sections evaluating cross‑referencing, prioritization, call summarization, and data entry. Details available at  Call-.
• Accredited high school diploma or state‑recognized equivalency certificate (e.g., GED) is required.
• Prior to performing duties, Security Control Specialists must be deputized by the Ada County Sheriff.

Responsibilities are performed in a secure facility environment that may involve overnight and weekend shifts. Physical requirements include the ability to operate security equipment and maintain situational awareness.
